ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PAKISTAN ARMY


1. Eligibility Conditions for PMA LONG COURSE

a. Age

(1)     Intermediate or Equivalent     -     17-22 Years                Relax able for three months
                                                                                               both in upper and lower age limit
(2)     Graduates (2 years graduation)
               and Serving PN / PAF Personnel            -    17-23 Years
(3)     Graduates with 4 years graduation
               programme (BS / BA (Hon) / BBA)    -    17-24 Years    -
(4)     Serving Army Soldiers                                    -    17-25 Years    -

b. Gender.
            Male.

c. Marital Status.
            Unmarried (Married serving personnel of the Armed Forces over 20 years of
                                    age are eligible).

d. Nationality.
            Citizens of Pakistan and domicile holders of Azad Kashmir / Gilgit-Baltistan. Upon final
            selection candidates with dual nationality to surrender nationalities other than Pakistani.

e. Physical Standards
(1) Minimum Height- 5'- 4" (162.5cm)
(2) Weight - As per the Body Mass Index 2

f. Education

(1) Marks - FA / FSc
(a) Minimum 60 % marks in FA/FSc and equivalent.
(b) Candidates who secure 60% mks or above in BA / BSc, BA / BSc (Hons)
         and BBA / BPA, with 50% mks in FA / FSc are eligible for PMA Long Course

(2) Relaxation of Marks -
FA / FSc. 55 % marks for the candidates from specified area with domicile. Area incl Balolchistan, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, District Neelum Azad Jammu Kashmir, District Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Tehsil Bala Kot (Kaghan, Naran)of District Mansehra in KPK, Tharparker and Tehsil Umer Kot in Sind, District Rajanpur, Area of Cholistan Desert, Drawer Fort, Salamsar, Mojgarh and Dingarh of Punjab, who have been actually studying in same areas.

(3) Serving Army Soldiers.
50 % marks in FA/FSc and equivalent.

(4) Hope Certificate.
Candidates who have passed Part-1 of Intermediate Examination with minimum 60% marks and appeared / are appearing in Part-II/Final Examination can also apply on "Hope Certificate" by the Head of the institutions.

(5) Verification of Marks Sheet / Certificate.
Candidates not issued with certificates or in possession of duplicate/revised mark sheets/certificates of Matric / Intermediate / BA / BSc MUST get a Verification Certificate signed by Secretary/Controller Examination of concerned Board/University.


 2. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR TECHNICAL CADET COURSE  

a. AGE

           d. NATIONALITY.
Citizens of Pakistan, domiciles holders of Azad Kashmir / Gilgit Baltistan. Upon final selection candidates with dual nationality will have to surrender nationalities other than Pakistani.
            e.    PHYSICAL STANDARDS

   f.    EDUCATION.
                FSc (Pre Engineering) Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry / Computer Studies / Computer
                Science with minimum 65% marks or 'O' level passed (English being compulsory) in five
                subjects and 'A' level passed in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Computer
                Studies/Computer Science in Grade A-C.

    (1)     Candidates possessing qualifications such as 'O' level and 'A' level etcetera will be
                    required to obtain Equivalence Certificate and conversion of marks from Inter Board
                    Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Ministry of Education, Islamabad and
                    attach it with application form.
   
    (2)      Candidates who have passed FSc Part-I Examination with minimum 65%
                    marks and  appeared / are appearing in FSc Part-II / Final Examination can
                    also apply on "HOPE Certificates" duly issued by Head of the institutions.

    (3)     Candidates with Computer Science instead of Chemistry in FSc can apply for
                   Computer Software Engineering only

Here are the requirements and eligibility conditions to apply for the regular commission in Pakistan Army as GDMOs and Dental Surgeon Doctors.

TYPE’s OF COMMISSION:
  • Regular Commission in the Army Medical Corps as Captain GDMOs (Male/Female)
  • Commission in Army Medical Corps as Captain Dental Surgeon (Female)
Qualification and Age Requirement:
Candidate applying for regular commission as Captain GDMOs (Male/Female) doctors in Pakistan Army must have MBBS or equivalent qualifications recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) having completed minimum one year house job in an institution recognized by PM&DC.
Candidate applying for regular commission as Captain BDS (Female) doctors in Pakistan Army must have BDS or equivalent qualifications recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) having completed minimum one year house job in an institution recognized by PM&DC.
Age limit for commission as Captain Doctors GDMOs and Dental surgeons is 28 years.
Following Candidates are ineligible to Apply:-
  • Candidates who are already screened out twice by ISSB, GHQ, NHQ, AHQ Selection Boards for any type of commission in the Armed Forces.
  • Those Candidates who are rejected for Junior Cadet Course/ Pakistan Military Academy Long Course/Graduate Course/Officers Training School (OTS) Short Course/Equivalent of Pakistan Navy or Pakistan Air Force Courses.
  • Those Candidate who are rejected once by ISSB for PMA/OTS/Junior Cadet Academy or equivalent Naval/PAF courses and once rejected for Direct Short Service commission entry, will not be eligible for third chance. Candidates twice rejected for Direct Short Service Commission are also ineligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are declared medically unfit by an appeal Medical Board of Army, PAF and Navy.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
  • Candidates have to apply for online registration, professional written and intelligence tests for GDMOs/in AMC/ADC will be held at Army Selection & Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs).
  • Selected candidate will be called for personality test and Army Selection and Recruitment centers.
  • Names of successful candidates who passed personality test will be displayed at respective Army Selection & Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs) on the given date.
  • Final selection will be made on overall performance at GHQ


BOND
Finally selected candidates will have to sign a bond of minimum 5 years to serve Army. The applicability of bond will start on successful completion of military training at PMA Kakul/Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) Rawalpindi.
BASIC MILITARY TRAINING
Finally selected candidates go through 22 weeks basic military training at PMA, Kakul/AFPGMI, Rawalpindi.
GRANT OF COMMISSION
After completing basic military training candidates are granted commission in Pakistan army as Captain. 
Government servants will have to apply through proper channel if they fall within the age limit.

COMBINE MEDICAL BOARD

CMB is special medical test conducted by PAF. Its held in Masroor Air Force Base Karachi. Air force has a hospital in the base where almost 3 to 4 days (working days) are spent by the candidates.

Upon reaching there you have to fill a few forms. There is a mess there for you. Here is the sequence of tests for GDP (they may very a bit, and for CAE and Non GD groups the tests might be a bit less tough and less in number)

1. Blood and urine test.
2. X Ray for chest.
3. ENT (Ear, DNS) Checkup by doctor
4. A test for ears in which they place a headphone on your ears and tell u that if u hear a beep in left or right ear then press respective button on a small panel.
4. Physical Exam (Height, weight, Chest measurements)
5. Surgical Exam
6. ECG
7. Heart beat Checkup by doctor
8. Then many tests of Eyes (ranging from Color blindness to check if there is any disease) Quite hectic and time consuming tests.

ISSB CALL LETTER

Your call letters are issued minimum 20 days in advance to your test date, immediately after website is updated. You should be able to receive your call through Mail within a week time. If you do not get your call via Mail then take a print out from our website of the same page which shows your name and calling date and report for the tests on due date. INEGIBILITY STATUS ISSB

INELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Candidates falling in any one of the following are ineligible to appear in the ISSB tests
 
Those who do not fulfill the academic qualifications advertised by respective services headquarters.
Those found medically unfit.
Those who have been twice Screened Out.
Those who have been twice Not Recommended by ISSB.
Those withdrawn from any training academy on disciplinary ground or found unsuitable.
Those dismissed from government service on disciplinary or unsuitability grounds.
Those dismissed from Armed Forces on disciplinary ground or being unsuitable.
Those convicted in the court of law.
Any candidate who appeared in ISSB within last 4 months.
RECOMMENDED candidates are ineligible to appear for the tests of any course for one calendar year starting from the date of recommendation at ISSB.
  

KEY POINTS FOR ISSB

At ISSB, we are looking for alert, motivated candidates who have the potential to complete the long, arduous and extensive training which faces all newly commissioned officers in the service. The Selection Board is looking for many things, such as clear thinking, the ability to remain calm under stress and strain, team skills and willingness to participate. We don’t want you to display rashness or aggression; neither do we want you to be dull or spiritless. Be honest, straightforward and frank. Don’t display over-consciousness, false projection or superficial behavior. Over the years some private institutions and coaching centers have mushroomed in the country to train the candidate for passing ISSB tests. You are advised not to join these for training and guidance. The training imparted in these centers is too restricted and brings in rigidity in thought process. 
Appearance
You can tell a lot from a person’s appearance. Show us you have got a sense of personal pride.
Self Confidence
Self-confidence and maturity are largely the product of experience. You can strengthen these qualities by participating in-group activities, taking on responsibility and exercising independence.
Expressions
We look for people with good expression, may it be Urdu or English, clear direction, a good vocabulary and sense of grammar. Try to develop these by joining in debates and group discussions. 
Academic Ability
Good academic results mean you will be good at absorbing the training of advanced and sophisticated equipment. Make your English and Mathematics sound. 
Leadership
If you possess the above qualities, you will have a greater potential for leadership training. Try and seek out positions of responsibility in academic, youth, social or sports activities. 
Fitness
Take adequate physical exercise in the run up before you report at the ISSB. 
Motivation
You should be convincing and sincere in your reasons for wanting to join armed forces. Make sure you really know for what and why you are applying. 
Awareness
We are looking for people with an awareness of the world around them, and an interest in military matters. Discuss current affairs and defence issues with your parents, teachers and friends and keep yourself updated with good newspapers.

SLECTION SYSTEM FOR ISSB

SELECTION SYSTEM
 
Aim of Inter Services Selection Board is to select potential officers for the defence forces of Pakistan who have 
the requisite capabilities to successfully complete their course of training at the military academies and also 
possess physical, mental, social and dynamic qualities to make successful leaders during peace and war.
Inter Services Selection Board caters for selection of candidates for training as potential officers for all the 
three services of Pakistan. Services Headquarters, however, plan the total number of candidates to be 
tested/inducted in various courses as per their overall requirement/schedule.
The selection technique followed by the ISSB is three dimensional. All candidates appearing before the ISSB are to 
take three different types of tests, i.e, psych tests, GTO tests and Interview.
The Psychologist Officers, Group Testing Officers and the Deputy Presidents, who are specialists in their
respective fields, administer these tests.
We assess you in order to determine who amongst you possesses the potential for leading the military outfits in 
peace and war.
PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS
These tests include intelligence and personality tests and are held on the morning of the first day.
Intelligence Tests.
These are of two main types; verbal and non verbal. Candidates who fail to come up to the 
minimum standards are screened out. They are allowed to proceed back to their homes after the test on the first day.
Mechanical Aptitude Test
It is designed to assess candidates' basic mechanical sense.
Personality Tests
These are written tests of analytical/ projective type. Responses provide indication
 
OUT DOOR TESTS
Out Door Tests
Group Tests. In group tests the candidates are put through a number of standardized situations to find out the degree of officer like qualities in a candidate i.e., team spirit, initiative, resourcefulness etc, and whether the candidate’s personality fits him for a practical role that an officer has to play in the Armed Forces. For these tests, the candidates are divided into groups. The tests include:-
Group Discussion.
Informal discussions are conducted in a group on given subjects.
Group Planning.
A group plan for a given problem on the model is to be evolved.
Group Tasks.
Three group tasks are conducted in which candidates are presented practical situation and 
left to solve these. Normally these comprise obstacles over which the group is required to carry objects of sufficient bulk and weight.
Command Tasks.
Each candidate is in turn appointed the commander of the group and given a practical task 
requiring several men.
Individual Obstacles.
Simple obstacles which a candidate is required to tackle.
 
INTERVIEWS
 
Interviewer assesses the candidates in an informal and objective manner. The questions would mainly pertain to the candidate's life, academics, awareness and general aspects requiring the candidates' views.
